In a week hit by rain and poor availability, 2s take another 30 points, while the 1st XI remain in sight of the league leaders.

Another hard won 30 for the 2s

There are only five other clubs with a 100% record across all divisions of the Herts League. One of them, Harpenden Dolphins, happens to be in the same division as the 2nd XI so it will be a monumental clash at their place next weekend. Northchurch will need to carry forward the momentum that helped them beat Harpenden VI at home on Saturday. Harry (pictured) continued his run of good form with the bat, making his second half century of the season, to help the team to 171/9 off a rain-shorted 41 overs. Harpenden stuttered in reply and were bowled out for 139 in 38 overs.

First team lose at fortress Datchworth

The team never really got into the game after winning the toss and bowling. Datchworth were slow to score but won the new ball battle to allow them to build a platform for some late hitting. Datchworth’s bowlers were also good with the new ball, and with rain around, the game fizzled out. The handful of points kept Northchurch in sight of top of the table Hoddesdon, who lost to Eversholt.

Last over T20 thriller at Chorleywood

The T20 XI put on a great show at Division 2A Chorleywood on Sunday. After getting put into bat, Northchurch were happy to reach 80/2 after 9 overs, but Chorleywood bowled well to restrict the total to 136. Northchurch bowled well, especially in the six-over power play, and took regular wickets to keep the scoreboard pressure on the home team. The Chorleywood skipper timed an innings very well to get his side within sight of the target, then accelerated to get them over the line with two balls to spare.

Junior Matches

All junior matches were washed out in a terrible week for weather. The amphibious U13s did turn up for their training session though, and we managed to get the All Stars playing on Friday.

Friday Night BBQ

Friday 28 June sees our All Stars Programme come to a close. To celebrate the season, we’ll be handing out awards and having a bbq. All club members are welcome to come and have a bite to eat. Starting at 6.30pm. RSVP to juniors@northchurchcc.org to book a burger, which will be cooked fresh by a professional chef.

Junior matches

We now have 25 matches at the Meadow in the next 28 days! Pray to weather gods, as there will be no opportunity to rearrange rain affected matches. Check out the match calendar and come along to support.

The academy has been entered into a summer league, which will give us some more opportunities for match play. In our group are Chorleywood, West Herts, Grand Union (HH/Boxmoor mashup) and Bushey. Watch this space for fixtures.

Quiz Night 12 Jul, 7pm
