First fifties for Channor and Bennie, Hobley tons up and Daz is warming up

Lads v Dads

Next Sunday, 26th May, sees our annual Lads v Dads fun day at the club. Juniors and their dads (and mums) are encouraged to come and have a try of senior cricket at the Meadow. Come down to support, have a bite to eat and enjoy the day.

Rain Affected week of cricket for Juniors

Three of our junior matches were lost to rain this week, however, those games that were played produced some crackers. The U13Bs needed a boundary off the last ball of their match on Tuesday and the U13As found themselves in an identical position two days later. Read Sean’s very entertaining match reports by clicking the links below.

The U15s, which included two U14s and six U13s from the Academy, beat a very friendly and talented Grand Union (Hemel-Boxmoor mashup) on Sunday morning at Hemel Town CC. One of the highlights was a stunning, diving, one handed, boundary catch by Adam K. Match report link below.

All Stars

The rain on Friday could not deter our All Stars, who were out in force again. This week, we worked on bowling with a straight arm, catching, and hitting the ball into a gap. We will continue on Friday, when the bar will be open from 6.

League sides win again

It was double wins for Saturday’s league teams for the second week in a row. The 1s put together a fabulous performance at home to beat Bishop Stortford IIs, with Hobley (128*) and Darren (five for 7) the stars.

The 2s made light work of Knebworth Park IIIs. New member Rob Channor (57*) and Harry Bennie (62*) combined to knock off 120 with 10 wickets in hand. The seamers had done a fantastic job to restrict Knebworth in the first half.

Sunday: Fun day but finished second

Buoyed by the news that the U15s had won away from home, the Sunday XI were revved up for their game against the Full Tossers, but were ultimately beaten by a stronger batting line up.

Scorecards and stats

Some of you may not know that our scorecards are published on the ECB-hosted Play Cricket website. This is a nationally-used platform, which puts all performances in one place. Click here to view our scorecards and stats.

Stat of the week: The second XI's ten wicket win on Saturday was only the third time of winning by that margin since 2001 but the second in two years. Last year, Jack Randall (103*) and Spud Smart (54*) combined to knock off West Herts IIIs'157.
