First social event of the year an odds-on favourite

Members and guests gathered for a pre-season race night and all-you-can-eat curry supper on Saturday.

The evening raised £400 for the Pituitary Foundation, a charity very close to the heart of club stalwart Mark Hobley and his lovely wife Polly.

All the punters worked up a healthy appetite, and most a healthy financial loss (all for a good cause) by laying bets and getting very excited by the photo finishes of 30 year-old horse races.

Winners celebrated and losers commiserated over an absolutely delicious home-style curry buffet with all the trimmings, followed by home made mango cheesecake and fresh fruit.

A massive thank you goes to Mark Hobley and Jack Fantham for organising the event. Also to Sandy Bilimoria, our resident micro baker and artisan catering supremo, for the wonderful food. Also the Jackie and her team for dealing with the thirsty gamblers, who gladly parted with their cash to raise some greats funds for charity.

The evening was rounded off by Hobley draining everyone of their final pennies before sending us all home looking forward to more social events and good company in the cricket season to come.
