Club history made with two games at once

The Meadow played host to two games simultaneously last night, with the U9s and U12s hosting Berkhamsted and Chipperfield in pairs matches.

On the top pitch, the U9s held their nerve in a tight chase after Berkhamsted had posted a competitive 263/8. The scores were level going into the final over, with Berkhamsted needing wickets to peg the total back, but Northchurch batted sensibly to finish on 270/3.

On the square, the U12s had a slightly less tense match. Batting first, they posted 292 for 4, before putting the pressure on with ball to keep chipping away at the Chipperfield total, and managed to restrict the visitors to 248/10.

As if in celebration of the change in the weather, there was a lovely carnival atmosphere at the club as spectating parents swapped blankets and coffee for sunnies and cocktails.

Thanks go to Phil and Hayley for organising the teams, groundsman Mark for getting the pitches ready after a month of rain, Ellis for setting up and Jackie for keeping thirst at bay.
