Cliff has been involved with the club as player, committee member and captain since the early 1950's.
Indeed, he was personally responsible for saving the club from extinction in 1954 when we only had four players before the start of the first game. Cliff somehow managed to get a team together for that season and beyond. He always played the game in the right way & with a smile on his face. He could also hit a ball a country mile...
He has been our President since 1999 also designing the new pavilion after the fire in the mid 90's that destroyed the "old" building.
Some of the comments received about him since he passed include "one of the best", "an absolute gentleman and a gentle man", "wonderful servant to the club", "just a lovely man", "a hero of our club"and "legend". He was all that & more, a true gent and integral part of the club for many years and just a force of nature, even playing his beloved bowls just days before he died.
He will be so missed and our collective hearts are broken. Forever 95 years young
