We are looking for a partner to help us maintain our community defibrillator

You hopefully know that the club has a defibrillator which lives in a locked boxed on the outside of the pavilion. The machine is accessible to all members of the community, who would be directed to it and given a code to open the box by a 999 operator if needed. The machine is easy to use and even talks to you to give instructions.

Defibrillators save lives. According to the London Ambulance Service, for every minute a defibrillator is not applied to a patient in cardiac arrest, their chances of survival drop by c. 14%.

We are very proud to provide the defibrillator for the whole local community, which was was installed with considerable financial support from the Club Cricket Charity.

Northchurch Cricket Club is now responsible for the maintenance of the machine, to make sure it is in working order in the event that it is needed to help save a life in our community. One of our members, Chris Syers, conducts a monthly check to ensure the machine is in working order and reports the results to Community Heartbeat Trust. When equipment needs to be replaced, we are responsible for the costs.

For example, we have just bought a new battery at a cost of £190. A new set of pads, which connects the machine to the patient, costs £48. These items must be replaced regularly.

We are looking for a partner to help us with these costs by sponsoring the defibrillator. £200 per year would keep the machine in working order and any excess would be put into a pool for delivering training for sports members, and members of the community.
