Piranhas in pyjamas, quiz night fun, 1st XI maintain top spot, 2s suffer first defeat

Fun fest for the 1s

The 1st XI posted 300 for the first time this year, with a decent chunk of the runs coming from the bat of Tom Garraway, who seemed determined to reach three figures after being stranded on 99 last week. Unfortunately, the large total killed the game and second half somewhat fizzled, with North Enfield’s skipper’s very good hundred earning the visitors a few additional points. Hobley was the pick of the bowlers, adding four to his tally for the season.

Louis’ runs not enough for 2s

The 2nd XI tasted defeat in the league for the first time this season, losing by a narrow margin to Luton Town and Indians 4th XI. Louis Prideaux made 75 in the team’s chase of 220 but a last minute collapse prevented the team from getting over the line.

Sunday XI v Tring Piranhas

The Sunday XI played their match on Thursday this week, in a T20 against the Piranhas in pyjamas from up the road. Tring batted first and made good use of the flat pitch and small boundaries to post 188. Northchurch made a reasonable response to finish on a better than run-a-ball 135 but score board pressure from the outset was too much.

Juniors

The U10s finished the regular season matches with a home game against Tring but we have one more training session on Tuesday. It has been a season affected by rain but the levels of participation have been better than ever. With the World Cup safely in England’s hand, who knows how many will be inspired to come along next year.

The Academy starts its summer league season on Thursday, with an away fixture against Chorleywood U15s.

Quiz Night

Over seventy people attended the brilliant quiz night on Friday night, not all of them remembering to bring their brains! Our thanks go to Gilly Clifford and Mark Baker for a great night. We will be making a donation of £100 to the Hospice of St Francis from the proceeds.
