Putman Cup 4 August, Berkhamsted CC
Forget the Calcutta Cup. Ignore the Ashes. No prize in sport is more hotly contested that the Putman Cup. It was founded by Ian Putman, current player and groundsman at Berkhamsted CC and former player at Northchurch, in memory of his father, Jed, who was a fantastic player and passionate supporter of both clubs. The cup has changed hands, this way and that, over the last few years, with opportunity to claim the spoils in Berkhamsted’s back yard this year, in front of their VP lunch party.
President’s XI v Chairman’s XI 25 August
This annual will be played on August Bank Holiday Sunday this year. Last year saw a final over thriller, with the Chairman’s XI just getting over the line after a hair and tortoise chase. The bar will be open all day, and the Chairman’s XI never miss an opportunity for a mid-game libation.
