The 2ndXI had thrilling tie at league rivals Harpenden Dolphins, while the first team put in their most dominant performance of the season.

2s Tie with Dolphins

There is still nothing to separate the second XI and Harpenden Dolphins at the top of division 8a as both sides took 20 points. Batting first on a cabbage patch, the 2s limped to 113 all out, skipper Jack choosing a great moment to find some form and contribute exactly half the runs. In response, the Dolphins made the most of the slightly improving pitch and looked likely to overhaul the total, especially when scores were level with three wickets in hand. However, in an amazing finish, Chapman bagged two before Javelin Dave took the final scalp to send Northchurch into a frenzy.

1s dominate Dunstable

Northchurch took full advantage of Dunstable’s availability issues to take the 30 points before the sun was over the yard arm. Wickets were shared amongst the bowlers as Dunstable were bundled out for 102. Saf Khan and George Liveing both carried their bats in the straightforward chase. Match report.

Sunday team beat Tring Athletic Football club

Tring, who counted our own Steve Meager and Tom Garraway in their number, proved too strong for the Sunday XI. Jude batted beautifully, but that senior half century still eludes him. His 47, supported by a 41* from OJ, ensured that Northchurch reached a total that TAFC could not reel in.

Junior Matches

Rain continued to affect matches this week, but in the games that were played, some great cricket was on show, even though Northchurch were on the wrong end of the results. See your team section for match reports.
