A great game of cricket, with a special shout out to Lorna and Alexandra for completing their first ever cricket match. And a big well done to Daisy, who captained the side for the first time.

Rickmansworth chose to bat first and finished on a solid 284/4. Emily starred with 3 wickets, while there was some really tidy bowling from Megan and Ivy, plus excellent work in the field from Alexandra. We didn’t concede a single boundary, which meant a lot of running and plenty of red faces by the break!

After some much-needed half-time treats (thanks to Layla, Sian and Megan), Northchurch batted patiently in pairs and kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely. Most of our wickets came through run outs, but I’d much rather see the girls being positive and going for runs!

Solid batting from Daisy and crew got us to 260, before Ivy and Charlotte, batting as the final pair, got us to within a whisker of the win. Sadly, a last-minute run out meant Northchurch finished just 5 runs short.

Daisy was voted Player of the Match by Rickmansworth for her batting and captaincy, while Ivy took our Players’ Player award for some great hitting at the end.

Huge well done to all the girls, an excellent effort in seriously tough conditions.
