It was the U10 first game of the season and for four out of eight of the team, their first ever match! Edward, Robin, Ryan, Tyler, Felix, Jasper and captain Charlie all played their hearts out and with big smiles.
Hemel batted first on a beautiful evening at the Meadow and made 290/4 from their sixteen overs. Felix was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, straight bowled. The rest of the boys never gave up and the fielding was particularly impressive, with Robin making several excellent diving stops on the boundary.
Northchurch got off to a watchful start to their innings but Hemel bowled brilliantly and made scoring very tough. Some early-season mix-ups with the calling saw the home team sailing close to the wind with the running between the wickets and eventually a lesson was learnt the hard way. The last pair of Felix and Tyler had a big task to chase the total but gave it a good go, with Felix whacking a huge six! Unfortunately, we finished short but all they boys agreed that it had been good fun and that they were looking forward to the next match, away at Boxmoor on Friday.
