On 22nd July 2026, Northchurch CC Under 14B finalised their summer campaign in a truly high-octane encounter. Winning the toss and electing to bowl, our boys faced a formidable West Herts CC side that posted a challenging 167/4 from their 20 overs. Not to be deterred, the Northchurch response was full of intent and momentum, as the team staged a spirited, boundary-filled pursuit. Despite falling just 16 runs short with a final total of 151/8, the energy and standard of cricket provided a fittingly thrilling finale to a great season.
Bowling and Fielding Discipline - Jacob set a clinical tone early on, returning remarkable figures of 1-5 from his 2 overs, supported by a disciplined opening spell from Daniel.
- Tommy was the pick of the bowlers; his 2-9 from 2 overs included a vital economy rate of just 4.5, keeping the pressure on the West Herts middle order.
- Our energy in the field was infectious throughout the innings. Sharp catches were taken by Tom to dismiss Sarthak, Benji to remove Kaveer, and Tommy to claim the wicket of Saven.
Batting Fireworks and Landmarks - George anchored the middle of the innings with a masterclass in placement and strike rotation. Scoring 25 runs at a strike rate of 119.0, George found the gaps with precision, showing great maturity in his shot selection - the highlights being a reverse sweep and another was a one handed shot, both flying over the boundary rope (seeing is believing - see the videos here and here
- Benji ignited the chase with a blistering 23 not out off just 10 deliveries. One of his powerful strikes unfortunately caught spectator Sarah on the elbow—requiring some quick ice treatment—but the sheer force of his hitting kept Northchurch within touching distance.
- Daniel played a vital, aggressive knock, contributing 21 runs which included a towering six and three well-timed boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking at a rapid rate.
