Northchurch were sent out to field by the toss-winning West Herts captain, who liked the look of the flat senior deck. Northchurch put in probably the best bowling performance of the season, though Herts were equal to the task. There was notable pace from Ellis, Ed, Charlie and James, and excellent accuracy from Elliot, Raj and Jamie, who picked up our only wicket with a lovely slower ball.
A dropped catch and a missed run out let the Watford team get away in the first ten but the run rate was contained well in the second half, leaving Northchurch 145 to win.
The first ball of the second innings was a head high beamer, hooked for six by and in-form James, and gave some cause for optimism. However, West Herts found their areas quickly and scoring became tough, leading to a couple of quick wickets. The theme continued as scoreboard pressure mounted, leaving Northchurch a few runs light at the end of the match.
