Our Innings – 267/6

Opening Partnership - Siân & Izzy
We started brightly against a mix of aggressive bowling and wayward deliveries. The openers played some attacking shots to build momentum early.
Emily, Indie & Thedara
Emily and Indie maintained the run rate with intelligent batting and opportunistic singles before Thedara took over, adding 2 valuable runs with a solid effort.
Athena, Poppy & Grace
Athena and Poppy ramped up the intensity against a tough bowling pair, with Grace coming in to replace Poppy mid-innings. Despite losing 2 wickets, their aggressive approach yielded 14 runs for the partnership, including our first boundary - a well-struck effort from Athena.
Closing Overs - Zoe, Charlotte & Bella
Zoe and Charlotte navigated some tricky bowling with loose deliveries to add valuable runs. Bella finished strongly with an impressive batting display, clattering a crucial boundary and earning Berko’s Choice Batter of the Match. Her aggressive finishing helped lift us to 267 for 6 wickets.

Berko’s Innings – 333/0
Despite a strong start from Athena’s opening over which earned her Berko’s Choice Bowler of the Match, their opening batters built an impressive partnership with 4 boundaries and a 6 across the first five overs. The match ultimately slipped away as their batters proved too strong on the day.

Bowling Highlights
The bowling showed marked improvement this week with 15 of our overs featuring either zero or just one no ball/wide, a significant step forward in consistency and confidence.
Thedara was named Manager’s Player of the Match for an impressive opening over with perfect accuracy conceding no extras. Emily earns special mention for bowling 5 dot balls. It was an outstanding individual performance!

Fielding
The team was sharp in the field with a few excellent boundary-savers and smart backing up throughout.

Overall, it was a great performance with clear growth and development across the squad. Considering most of the Berko players were Y6 with notable experience, our girls should be extremely proud of their team today.

A big thanks to all players and parents for their patience with the rotation system. I know the constant swaps felt disruptive, but I hope everyone felt they had a fair opportunity to play. Special appreciation to Stephen (our superb umpire), Phil and Fred (scorekeeping), Helen (awesome brownies) and Henry (warm-up duties) for their excellent support.
